NHL Stanley Cup Champion #27, Scott Parker, is a former professional ice hockey right winger who played ten seasons with the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks from 1998 to 2008. Parker earned his nickname, "The Sheriff", from his reputation as a feared fighter and enforcer.
In 2007 together with his wife, Francesca Parker, and their son, DJ, The Parkers founded Parker’s Platoon, a Colorado 501c3 non-profit charitable organization that brings a "Team Room" concept by pairing combat veterans and retired professional athletes together, fostering their WARrior spirits to transition together to live post-career. Parker’s Platoon operates under the belief that "There is no right feeling, no wrong pain".
Upon retiring from the NHL in 2008 and having suffered upwards of 25 concussions from his hard-hitting hockey days, Parker went to see Dr. James Kelly, a renowned Colorado-based neurologist founder of The Market Institute For Brain Health in Denver, Colorado.
After being diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (“TBI”) and exploring various treatment options including pharmaceutical approaches, hypobaric chamber therapy, and Gyrostim, Parker decided to take the “road less traveled” and pursue CBD as his primary source of treatment and long-term rehabilitation and recovery plan. Today, Parker is passionate about helping professional athletes, war veterans and the public at large find a better road to recovery by challenging the western medicine’s traditional approach to medical treatment, specifically in terms of long-term rehabilitating conditions. Parker is an NHL ambassador for Athletes For CARE, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating a community where athletes can find support, opportunity, and purpose in life after a career in sports. Both Scott and Francesca Parker are co-founding partners in the BodyChek Wellness product line.
